Dusty's Christmas

Dusty really loves Christmas!
He knows as soon as the presents start coming in the mail that it's Christmas.
He doesn't react to packages throughout the year containing fabric or other catalogue items.
But when the presents come, he knows.
This year I didn't put them under our little tree, (which I leave up all year), because the shelf below it was full and I was just too tired to move stuff around.
So I just put the presents in my closet.

I put the stockings up about the 21st and he checked them every 15 - 20 minutes to make sure nothing had been put in them.
Also he checked the perimeter, sniffing nose to the ground looking for the presents.
He'd look up on the shelf and see that there were no presents.
You could just see the wheels turning in his little head,
"Where are the presents?" he would ask himself.

Finally on Christmas morning, a few minutes before "Dad" was scheduled to get up,  I retrieved the presents from the closet and wrapped them and put his stocking items in the stocking:

Finally there's something in there!!
I got him some new yam treats he's never had before:

Put a couple in his stocking and gave him one.
He laid down with that treat and savored every single bite!!
Then he jumped up and said,
"Wow!  I got to have me some more of that!!"
And started running around like the happiest doggie in the whole wide world.
He ran to his stocking and could smell there was more in there and he sure did want them and he couldn't wait any longer.
So, I told him to to wake up Dad.
He ran to the bed room, jumped on the bed and squeeked his pink ball in Dad's ear over and over, then ran around some more.
Just like a little kid on Christmas morning!!

Here he is, finally with his stocking,
eating the ever wonderful yam treats!

"OMG!! I can't believe these are soooo good!!"

On to opening the presents:

Here he is checking out the little skunk squeaky toy:

Here he's checking out the moo cow:

The moo cow actually moos and he really likes those kind.
In fact, he doesn't tear out the 'squeakers' on those.
He's had those kind of toys for years that still talk.
In the middle of the night I woke up to the sound off mooing in the living room.
Dusty had gotten up to check his stash.

It was a very Merry Christmas indeed!

Cute little quilt

Started this one this morning for Shirley.
It's a small table topper and those snowballs are 2 1/2" finished!!

Now here is Dusty with his brand new haircut!

He's still the cutest baby!!
Tomorrow I go to quilt camp.
I get to work on my brothers Oklahoma Dugout quilt.

Time is getting away from me.
His birthday is Aug 30th.
I have to make 88 blocks and so far I have made 32.  Have to get crackin'.

Dusty's eye

Just a quick note to update you on Dusty's ulcerated cornea.
He had it surgically scraped this morning to
try to stimulate healing.
It's been three weeks since I poked him in the eye and it hasn't healed so this is the next step.
He's on pain med's now and kind of grumpy.
But hopefully he'll be looking like this again soon.

Done

Finished the Snowball/Four patch this morning

Here's the back.
You can see how the design makes a secondary design as it repeats across the quilt

Now I need to tell you about my sweet doggie, Dusty.
two weeks ago we were playing fetch and I accidentally poked him in the eye with my finger.
I took him to the vet on Monday and started him on pain pills and antibiotics drops immediately.
It healed a little the first week and then the second week it just got worse.

It actually looks better today than it did yesterday!!
I feel awful that it is my fault!

You can't even wee his beautiful blue eye!
He has a ulcerated cornea and will probably have surgery later this week to scrap the surface to debride it.
He needs your prayers!
Thank you

Welcome!

Good morning and welcome to my blog!

Well, here's what I look like now that I  don't have flowers in one hand and a microphone in the other hand.
Of course I can only show my face 'cause I'm not wearing any pants, you know.
I'm really glad you all are here today to check out my blog and I encourage your to browse through some older posts to see what I've been up to.
I started blogging last summer, mainly to document my work and be able to say to potential customers,
"Visit my blog and see if you like what I do."

I just finished quilting this BQ, which is a perfect way to showcase this fabric.

If you click on the pic, you should be able to see the stitching more clearly.

If you haven't been to Stash Manicure yet today please go and check out my post over there.
Leave me a comment and let me know what you think.
Come back and see me.
Oh, Dusty says "Hi" too!

What a face

Managed to get some great pictures of my beautiful little Dusty.
He usually runs from the camera and his blues eyes turn red, but the "red eye" feature in Windows Lives Photo Edit works!!
Here he is:

He is just as sweet as he looks and check out those short legs!
He's a low rider!

Opening presents

First comes the stocking.
The stockings have been hung for a couple of weeks and just got the toys in them a few minutes ago.  He was soooo very good the last few minutes while we were getting ready,  in that he didn't grab the stockings and pull them down.  He has carefully checked them about every ten minutes for the last 2 weeks.  A few weeks ago I started putting dimes in Ron's stocking.  He saves dimes and at Christmas I save them up a give him big bunch in is stocking.
Dusty was  Johnny on the spot to let us know there was something in Dad's stocking in case anybody was worried about it,

I put some treats in the stocking and of course they fell to the bottom.  That's why he kept going for the toe instead of just getting the toys out of the top.

Santa Clause is a big hit!

"There's got to be more in there!"

Friendly greeting

"Please dad, I really, really, really, need another present!!!"

Well, Dusty got lots of toys and we had lots of fun watching him opening them and then playing with them.   He is a remarkable little dog a truly what our world revolves around.

We had a great meal and of course Dusty had a plate.  (Chrystal)
Hope your Christmas was as happy as ours

Happy day before Thanksgiving

It's the day before Thanksgiving and I just got back from getting the last few things I need for our meal.  Our celebration includes me, my husband and my beautiful little dog, Dusty.

At Thanksgiving and Christmas, Ron and I actually sit down at the table and
eat off place mats with food in pretty little bowls, sitting on
Grandma's red and white crocheted round hot pads.  (I have a gillion of those in all sizes, she
was prolific in her later years, it was just about all she could do, in addition to
dishcloths.)
This time of year always gets me thinking about the old days.  My previous post about my dream
made me really start thinking about the old days.
This particular picture is the closest model I could find to look like what I remember our old car looked like.

This is the car that carried us  up route 66,

past the Blue whale,

past our very favorite bridge in the world,

to Grandma's house every weekend and on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

This is the car that my brother fell out of in the Utica square parking lot.

This is the car you could see the road going by, through the floor in the back seat, because it had rusted through.

This is the car that took a trip down the driveway all by itself one day after
my brother and I had been playing in the front seat.
We apparently knocked it out of gear.
Went back in the house and while we were quietly playing something else at the dining room table, we saw the car go by the dining room windows sans driver.
The only thing the saved the garage was a big galvanized washtub sized bucket full of sand that was our 'sandbox',
(BTW, the garage is still standing, sort of,  it leans more every time we go by and see the house in Tulsa.)

This is the cart in which Daddy always whisper whistled "When you wore a Tulip" every time he drove us to Grandma's house.

This is the car Daddy kept a little notebook in the glove box that he wrote down the mileage and how much gas he bought
every time he filled it with gas, changed the oil, aired the tires etc.  Actually he kept a notebook in every car he ever had and he did the same with his lawnmowers!

This was the car that you couldn't roll down the back window because my brothers best friend tried to roll it down the wrong way really, really hard until he broke it.

This is the car we carried newspapers to the recycling place in the backseat on Saturdays, and weighed the car and the papers and then the car after the papers were emptied and they'd give us $2.37.
  Back then that was something.

I guess I miss my family.  They, my brother and sister,  will be having Thanksgiving together.  My brother goes to my sister's house tonight and then on to his daughters house tomorrow in Fairfax Virginia.  (My brother lives in North Carolina and my sister live is Virginia.)

Tomorrow Dusty gets a plate.  He's already getting excited.

If you have memories about an old car leave me a comment.
