Flowers and Birdies

Just finished this cute little baby quilt for Diane:

It was hard to get the quilting to show up but I finally took it outside on this glorious spring day and the sunshine did the trick.
Simple flowers in every square and wavy lines on the seams is the design.

I teach this flower in my Intro to Freemotion Quilting Class and always tell my students that by the time they finish quilting even a small quilt, they will have command of the flower and the wavy lines will have the look of giant ric-rac.

Wavy lines are really easier to quilt then the old
 "stitch in the ditch"
so If you've been waiting to start quilting for some reason, (that's not even a good one) just go ahead and start with this pattern, or a wavy line.
It really is fun!!

Happy quilting!

Finished

Finally posting Christie's
Eye of God.
Beautiful Quilt!!!
I'm not going to narrate, the pics speak for themselves:

I've been reading The Supper Club Mystery Series by J.B. Stanley on my Kindle.
(I borrow them from the library.
Very cool that you can do that now.)
The series is pretty fun and there is a ton of good recipes.
The one I'm reading now, "The Battered Body" Has some great cakes recipes like, eggnog cake which sounds wickedly good.

Also have been listening while, quilting of course, to "Red Mist" by Patricia Cornwell (I'm in the middle of that one)
Also listened to the Hunger Games by Collins and I liked it, (didn't think I would) and I'm waiting for the second in the series to download to my Walkman (also from the library)
My sister told me that this series is required reading in the high schools in Virginia.
Interesting...

Better go baste a quilt, but groceries get ready for guild meeting etc!!!

Happy quilting

Eye of God

Here's a sneak peak at the quilt I started today for Christie:

The is the Eye of God pattern by J Michelle Watts which is made with a 9 degree wedge ruler.
Definitely Southwest and I tried to include SW quilting with spirals, cactus flowers, conchos and the offset echoed circles have the look of prickly pear cactus.

This is small, and with any luck, I'll finish today or tomorrow.

Happy quilting!!

Big beauty

I finished this beautiful quilt yesterday for Toby.
This picture only reveals one fourth of the queen sized beauty.

Here is a close up of the quilting which shows flower/leaf meandering around the appliqued circles which puff up the circles.

Great job for Toby on her first big quilt!!

Happy quilting.
