Another Beach Quilt

I finished the first quilt of my basting blitz.
This is actually a different quilt than the one I just finished,
because I forgot to photograph the new one which was only slightly different.

When I got all done I turned the quilt over and couldn't believe my eyes...
I had placed the directional fabric sideways to the top fabric!!
That's the first time I have ever done this in all the years of quilting.
I measured the quilt and realized it was square so it could be used either way up and never be noticed.
Sooooo, I took it to Trish and said,
"Well, I did a really bonehead thing on this quilt, see if you can find it."
She looked and looked all over the front.  Absolutely loving everything she saw.
Finally I told her to look at the back and she said what happened did you get a big pleat?  And as she turned the quilt over she just burst out laughing and said:
"Oh well, It's just a give away and they're always waded up when they're in use."

I need to make sure I look at the backing fabric with my reading glasses on before I baste a quilt. ;-)

Dusty's eye

Just a quick note to update you on Dusty's ulcerated cornea.
He had it surgically scraped this morning to
try to stimulate healing.
It's been three weeks since I poked him in the eye and it hasn't healed so this is the next step.
He's on pain med's now and kind of grumpy.
But hopefully he'll be looking like this again soon.

Finished leaf quilt

Here it is all finished.
Turned out really pretty and Melissa loved it.

Here's the back.
You can see what I did for the borders.
I stayed with leaves all the way.

So tomorrow it's on to the next one.

leaf Quilt

This beautiful quilt was pieced by Melissa.
She requested leaf quilting which it really cries out for,
but I had a hard time finding the right path to take.

The following pic show the individual block.
I started in the middle of the block and did a big leaf in the triangle.
Then came back to the center and did loops down the sides of the big triangles.
Then I traveled to the next block, in the ditch stopping in the intersections
to complete the loops on the other sides of the big triangles and to add small leaves.

You can see how nice it looks on the back

Better get back to it.

Quilty ways to help Japan

In the past 2 1/2 weeks we have all been overwhelmed by images from the earthquake/tsunami/radiation disaster in Japan.

I have felt compelled to send a quilt hug but did not know how until now.

Over at SewCalGal she is telling you just how to do that today.

Here is another link from Quilters newsletter
calling for quilts by April 30th.

I know I have quilt tops that just need to be quilted.
Sew today at Sew 'n Go I'm going to baste one and get it quilted to send.
Maybe you have a quilt that is just waiting to provide a little warmth and a little hug where they have lost everything.

Done

Finished the Snowball/Four patch this morning

Here's the back.
You can see how the design makes a secondary design as it repeats across the quilt

Now I need to tell you about my sweet doggie, Dusty.
two weeks ago we were playing fetch and I accidentally poked him in the eye with my finger.
I took him to the vet on Monday and started him on pain pills and antibiotics drops immediately.
It healed a little the first week and then the second week it just got worse.

It actually looks better today than it did yesterday!!
I feel awful that it is my fault!

You can't even wee his beautiful blue eye!
He has a ulcerated cornea and will probably have surgery later this week to scrap the surface to debride it.
He needs your prayers!
Thank you

Still quilting

Still quilting my butt bigger on this sea of a quilt!
I'm almost done but I ran out of white thread and can't get anymore for 45 minutes so I'm finally taking the time to post.

I've had a busy week.
Taught Intro to Free Motion Quilting on Monday and had 4 students.
2 Students with brand new sewing machines they were not familiar with and 2 students with very old machines that had issues.
Needless to say it was a challenging class but we finally got started and I have to say that all the students did quite well.
I think there are 4 new budding quilters unleashed on the world.
I love being able to get people started at free motion.

Tuesday I went to Sew 'n Go and there were only 2 of us there.
I guess with spring break everybody was off doing stuff.
I got 2 more quilts basted.
Irma basted a small wall hanging and then we basted 4 charity quilts.
I also cut more fabrics for my brother's Oklahoma Dugout.

Tomorrow I go to my Laughing Quilters group which has merged for the time being with another group, the Crafters of Wickline Methodist, or COWs. So we will be the Laughing COWs
I will be cutting and organizing more blocks the OK Dugout quilt.
I have 25 blocks made

Another quilt

Just a short note to show the next quilt.
This is a snowball, 4 patch pieced by Beth during our blizzard.
(How appropriate.)
You can see I'm doing flowers which I'm sure sure she was dreaming about in all that snow while she pieced together her scraps.

Have to get ready to teach
Intro to Free Motion Quilting today
at Quilters Corner in Midwest City.

is this wierd or what!

Imagine my surprise when I went to replace the black ink cartridge

and pulled out these instead!!

Yes!
Those are red panties!

It's a new box with no tape or anything on it but looked a bit disheveled.
I'm putting them back in the box as soon as I find some rubber gloves,
the elastic looks stretched out.
That is off scale of the ick meter1
oooouu!!

Feeling blessed here with all my new followers and friends!

Thank - you again.

More quilts later this week.
I got 2 in yesterday so I'll be basting tomorrow.

Welcome!

Good morning and welcome to my blog!

Well, here's what I look like now that I  don't have flowers in one hand and a microphone in the other hand.
Of course I can only show my face 'cause I'm not wearing any pants, you know.
I'm really glad you all are here today to check out my blog and I encourage your to browse through some older posts to see what I've been up to.
I started blogging last summer, mainly to document my work and be able to say to potential customers,
"Visit my blog and see if you like what I do."

I just finished quilting this BQ, which is a perfect way to showcase this fabric.

If you click on the pic, you should be able to see the stitching more clearly.

If you haven't been to Stash Manicure yet today please go and check out my post over there.
Leave me a comment and let me know what you think.
Come back and see me.
Oh, Dusty says "Hi" too!

Reminder

Tomorrow is the day that I will be posting over at
So be sure to check in to see what I have to say.
You will learn some new and different things about me and see some of my older quilts.
Hope you like it.

It's kind of one of those times when I'm not feeling great about what I'm saying here on my blog.
I'm trying to be excited and witty and funny and creative
but I feel like I'm falling flat.
I've not been blogging very long, but I've read a lot of blogs,
and, pretty much, they all say,
write like you're talking.
Be honest.
Say what you're feeling and your readers will understand.
You can be "on" all the time.

So there it is.
I'm not "on"
"You"re always 'on' for me, Mom."
