Another quilt

Working on a BQ here.
I love the BQ.
I've made several myself, but. of course, I didn't make this one.
I'm just quilting it.
The BQ is neat because it showcases fabric and goes together really fast.  You can also use the BQ setting to put together blocks.
It's a versatile pattern.

Maybe that fabric that you've been holding onto because it's just sooooo beautiful would be perfect for a BQ.

Sneak Peek

I'm giving you a reminder:

I will be a guest blogger at Stash Manicure on March the 4th.

When

asked little ole me to be a guest host it nearly took my breath away and, and of course those of you who actually know me, know that is a bad thing.
But my breathing is nearly back to normal, well as normal as my usual gasping, heavy breathing, obscene phone call kind of normal.

So here's the Sneak Peak

Many more of my own quilts and how I started and evolved on  this quilt journey.

Finished Another

Finished quilting this one today.
I enjoyed this one because I really like this fabric!
Makes me feel like I'm at the beach.
I also like how the maker of the quilt made the blocks.
It reminds me of beach towels hanging on a fence.

This next picture shows a close up of the the quilting.
You'll see the meandering is a sideways motion that can be done whenever you want to indicate water or sky with clouds.
Click on the picture to see it really good.

Another Quilt Done

Finished another one.
I think this one is sew cute!
I love the fabric and how some of the pieces have a tone on tone
background that has a sheen.
You will have to click on the photos to see this it is really great.
(Sorry I don't know the fabric line, but I'll try to find out.)

The next pic shows the quilting in one block.
Notice how the leaves point in at the corners and out in the center of the block.  This makes for a secondary design in the quilting as the blocks are quilted side by side.
go back to the first pic and click on it to see the quilting up close and follow how the quilting moves in and out kind of making hour glass movements.

This next picture shows the border where I came back to the back and forth pointing of the leaves to tie it together.
(Not a great photo but you can see the quilting)

Happy quilting.

What a face

Managed to get some great pictures of my beautiful little Dusty.
He usually runs from the camera and his blues eyes turn red, but the "red eye" feature in Windows Lives Photo Edit works!!
Here he is:

He is just as sweet as he looks and check out those short legs!
He's a low rider!

Skull quilt

Yes I said Skull Quilt.
And it is made out of corduroy!
This skull takes up about half of a throw size quilt, so it is pretty good size.
It took me about 2-3 hours to get the skull quilted this morning.
Of  course I've been quilting it in my head for a few weeks since I knew it was coming in.
She wanted it quilted to look like Aboriginal facial tattoos.
I hope I hit the mark, but they may be a bit foo foo.
Oh well, the hard part is over.
The rest should pale in difficulty.

Another Quilt Done

Finished this embroidery quilt this morning and imediately went to Quilter's Corner to deliver it, forgetting all about taking a picture.
Lucily one of the ladies there had an I-phone and took a couple of pics for me and sent them to my e-mail.
It's really a cute quilt and has some Christmas Ribbon candy repeated
around the quilt, so I made sure to quilt in some ribbon candy too.
Here's a close up.

It really is a cute quilt.

My next quilt is going to be a challenge.
It is made out of corduroy and has a giant skull on it.

Sew "n Go

Went to Sew N  Go yesterday with ladies from my guild<
(Mid-Del Stitchin' Sisters Quilt Guild),
and I got 2 more quilts basted and then I actually got to work on piecing a quilt!
I'm making a quilt for my brothers birthday in August and I need to get busy!
Here are some of the blocks:

The pattern is Oklahoma Dugout and I'm using Daiwabo fabrics.
I have a long way to go but hopefully I'll get there by August.

I showed the fabrics to my brother when he visited a while back and his reaction was:
"You're making me a chocolate quilt!!"

Mary Ann's Big Adventure

Here's the quilt all finished.
Please click on the picture so you can see the quilting up close.
I also used a different camera, so I think I got a better picture, let me know what you think about picture quality.

And this is the  back.
As usual, you can see how the quilting forms and overall
pleasing design on the back.

Now for my big adventure.
On Friday I was scheduled for a Sleep Study for next month.
I have been sleeping with one of those machines and masks
for sleep apnea for years and they wanted to reevaluate me.
(My husband has a mask and machine too, so we are doubly cute when we go to bed!  We need to get one for Doggie too.)
I got scheduled for next month.
Anyway, yesterday at 2:30, the sleep lab called and asked me to come in
last night at 8:30.
(As I write this it seems less and less like a big adventure.)
I guess the adventure part was going out on Saturday night! lol
I'm pretty much a home body now a days, and when  do go out in the dark, it's either to the pharmacy across the street, or somebody else drives.
This time I drove myself about 17 miles to downtown Oklahoma City, only to find out when I got on the interstate, where all the streetlights were out, that I do not see well in the dark any more.
At one point there is a very curvy interchange part that was very dark, but the road straight ahead of me that was illuminated looked like I should follow it.
I nearly did follow that road which actually was across the river from where I was and there was no bridge for me to be on because my road curved!
Thank goodness, I saw my road in time to follow it instead instead of the "pie in the sky across the river road", or you'd be reading about me instead of reading this!
Needless to say,
my heart went pitty pat and when I finally pried my fingers off the steering wheel, I vowed not to drive at night any more.
Had just a little trouble going to sleep with all that adrenalin pumping but Here I am and all is well.

Finished Another

Finished this one this morning and I think it turned out pretty good.
This is the lady's first quilt, so I think she will be happy.
Quilting flowers always makes me happy.
It's a little hard to see the back because the thread matches pretty well, but if you click on the picture it will enlarge so you can see the stitching.

You can see that when you repeat the same design in each block, and then repeat a similar design in the sashing,
you come up with a pleasing overall design that is even in density.

I'll be teaching a class in Midwest City, OK this weekend at
Quilters Corner
405 455-5005
"Free Motion Quilting Expanded"
So you've taken a beginning free motion class but still don't know what to put on your quilt.  Come Saturday or Monday with a small quilt(no bigger than a throw), basted and ready to quilt.  And we will brain storm on how to decide what YOU can put on your quilt.
This is a highly individualized class and is slanted towards each student's abilities.
There will be time for quilting on your quilt in class.
Call the Corner for details and to reserve your spot.  If we don't know you're coming I probably won't be there.
You can also leave comments here if you have questions.

There is no reason to wait.
Don't wait til you retire,
or the kids are grown,
or you get your sewing room (I quilt in the living room of a one bedroom apartment for garden seed!),
or you get good enough.
Start quilting now.
You don't get better unless you quilt!!!

Blog withdrawal

I have been going through blog withdrawal!!
My phone went out on Friday.
My friend called to tell me she was coming to take me to the grocery store and 45 minutes later the phone was dead.
I managed to get it fixed on Sat by 2 pm, but the Internet would not be turned on til Monday because they had to give me a new line and bla, bla, bla weekend technical stuff not available....
Anyway the tech guy that came out on Sat came back Mon when the DSL still wouldn't work and long story short, he finally got it
working this morning.

It's going to take me a while to get caught up on all the blogs I follow.

I started this quilt yesterday morning.
This is the block that is repeated over and over.  I think the quilt is about 100" x 100" and I'm about 2/3rds done with it.
We're gearing up for another Winter Storm here in Oklahoma.  Due here any minute.  Supposed to snow for about 6" - 12".  So I'll be getting some quilting done in the next few days.

I've been thinking about changing the name of my blog.  It seems like all the blogs have such cute, catchy names and the name of my blog is such a mouthful

Another Mary Ann Custom Machine Quilting

I even had to scroll up to the top to make sure I got it right.
Time for a name change.
When I started the blog I was just thinking about getting my name out for quilting business.
Alphabetically it is good.
When I google machine quilting it comes up quick, (my computer?)
Any way, I was thinking about

QUILTING MY BUTT  OFF BIGGER

Any comments?
Can I get anybody to say anything?

I even had to

Monster Storm quilt

Is this the perfect quit to be quilting this week or what?  Usually quilting makes me warm, but I'm still kind of chilly with this one.  Not that it is not a warm a snugly quilt, it's just that it looks the same inside as it does outside and guess what?  It's snowing again!

I know most of the country has had storm after storm after storm, but this is my first storm after storm and I don't like it.
Haven't been out since Sunday and I've found out I'm not very good at stocking up.
We could use some provisions.
If I could get out of my parking lot, I'd probably be okay, but we had
a water line break and there is a lot of ice in the parking lot behind where I park and people have had lots of trouble this morning.
And of course, I'm a chicken.  (Ooooh chicken sounds good, wish I had some.)

Happy quilting.

Blizzard

The view from my window!
The ice you see?  some of it is on the inside of the window!

It is snowing so hard that you can really hardly see.
The flakes are very small but very close together and blowing sideways.

All in all a great day for staying inside and quilting.

I decided earlier to walk next door to  the McDonald's for breakfast and when I got there they weren't even open!!
The drifts were up to my knees and thighs in places and I was getting very short of breath!
Probably not the smartest thing I ever decided to do, but hey, sometimes you just have to experience life.
I was within 10 feet of my breezeway and I fell.
Not hard, just lost my footing on the uneven snow and went down. The problem was getting up.
With the uneven ground I just couldn't get up.
So I had to roll around a bit 'til I could get enough of a flat place to get up.
I'm sure it was a good laugh for someone sitting in their window watching.
Guess what?
I'm in to stay!
